Supporting NHS Dentists in Avon

The LDC is an independent body paid for by GDPs themselves via a compulsory Statutory Levy based on a specified amount per month. This funds the work and expenses of the LDC, including attendance at meetings on behalf of members, administration and contributions to such bodies as the British Dental Guild and the dentists Health Support Trust.

Meetings are held every few months. We are happy to discuss any issues raised by dentists in the area and to take those issues to NHS England and its Area Team on a group or individual basis.

Any dentist in Avon is welcome to attend our LDC committee meetings by approval of the Chairman as an observer.

Breif History – Many members of the LDC started their lives as a GDP when we didn’t wear gloves, and we all thought the NHS would fall apart when the maximum fee a patient could pay to be dentally fit was increased to £10. We need a cross-section of all GDP’s for it to flourish, and be relevant for your future needs.

Private dentist? If you are a private dentist and do not pay the NHS LDC levy you can still get involved with Avon LDC, benefitting from full LDC support and perhaps being elected to serve on the main committee.   As a member of the committee, you can benefit from the latest information in the world of dentistry and also get involved in representing the constituents of your part of Avon at committee level.   The LDC website gives you an insight into what we get up to.
